Most Anticipated Films of 2016

Hey guys!  2015 is quickly winding down for all of us and it has been a decent year for movies. There have been some great highs, which I talked about it in my best of the year post and some lows which I will be sharing in my worst of list on Tuesday.   I will also be posting my ranking of 2015 in animation this week after I have my google hangout video with Art from AtoZ Reviews on Wednesday.  If you guys want to participate in that discussion here is the link.  I’d love to have your feedback and insight. https://plus.google.com/events/cjaokemaobi5t77snk1rpgr1sg4

Moving on, 2016 looks like it could be a promising year for movies and while I don’t think we will get something on the level of Inside Out you never know.

I have compiled my 20 Most Anticipated Films of 2016.  I am sure some of these will end up being duds and some unknown to me will be favorites of the year.

Here is my video explaining each of the picks and why I am looking forward to them.  I would love if you guys gave a thumbs up and a watch to the video.  Thanks!

  1. Great list! I usually make a top 5 list as well at the end of every year. My 3 runners-up were Kung Fu Panda 3, The Founder, and Passengers. Then, my top 5 were:

    5) Now You See Me: The Second Act
    4) Inferno
    3) Zootopia
    2) Finding Dory
    1) The Jungle Book

However, this list was made last month and there probably are some changes now. For example, I think Sing would replace Kung Fu Panda 3 in my runners-up list. And I think Zootopia and Finding Dory’s positions might be swapped now.

  2. Moana! Yes! Really looking forward to that one. And Fantastic Beasts… Not so sure about ID4 without Will Smith, though. :/ As for Ghostbusters, I got all excited when I saw that picture of Matt Damon just above it, because that would be the Best. Ghostbusters. Ever. And then I realized. Rats. Well, at least we get to enjoy him in another Bourne movie, right? 😉

    1. That totally would be an awesome version of Ghostbusters! I feel like the new reboot will be heavily criticized by fans almost regardless of how good it is but I hope it will be funny. I agree on ID2. It could really be a snoozefest without Will Smith but hopefully it will be good…We will see! I’m surprised how hopeful all the HP fans are about Fantastic Beasts. I am a casual fan so looking forward to it but I thought the HP fans might be a little nervous about the new spin off.

      1. To be fair, I am a huge Potter-head, and I am rather nervous. But keeping my fingers crossed that the film was well-made, and not just Harry Potter’s annoying tag-a-long cousin. 😉 I agree that the new Ghostbusters will probably receive a lot of criticism by the nostalgic ones who compare it to the original. But honestly? The original was sooo corny, IMO, that it’s probably hard to make an even worse reboot.

      2. I just worry Fantastic Beasts will be boring because what are the stakes? Harry Potter has such a clear stake with Voldemort and the Boy who Lived. Fantastic Beasts is just an adventure. Hope it will be good though.
I find the original Ghostbusters to be charming with a funny script but agree it is pretty corny. Will be interesting to see what they do with a new cast of very skilled comedic actresses. If they can’t pull off this idea nobody can.

  3. This was definitely a great list! I’m especially glad that you included Secret Life Of Pets, Finding Dory, Captain America 3, X-Men: Apocalypse, Zootopia, & Moana on this list. However, I would have thought that you would have also included maybe King Fu Panda 3 and God’s Not Dead 2 on this list as well. Still great list though. I saw Star Wars Episode 7 again with my folks on Christmas Day and they especially liked the trailer for Secret Life Of Pets (this trailer was most likely a newer one). Anyway, thanks so much for posting this list!

    1. Thank you for reading! Force Awakens totally gets better on the rewatch right? Kung Fu Panda 3 I am actually not looking forward too. I have hated all the trailers because what I liked about 2 is it was a real martial arts movie with great action and a great villain. This 3 looks like a return to the humor I’m not a big fan of and the villain looks so lame. I hope it will be good but I am very skeptical.

With God’s Not Dead 2 I will definitely see it but the thing I liked about God’s Not Dead is I related to the story because I had experienced something similar in college . This one looks like it is going to be harder for me to relate too. I don’t mind dogmatic faith-based films like War Room or Do You Believe but not going to make my most anticipated. Hopefully it will be good. 🙂

      What is your most anticipated?

      1. Hmmmm! For now, I’m going to say probably Zootopia or Moana as well. I guess that might be because I’m a Disney fan as well though. I honestly liked Kung Fu Panda 2 better as well, but I’m still looking forward to 3 just to see what happens now. I also felt the villain in 2 was better and there was more depth to Po, you know? Oh, and another thing! After my folks and I watched the trailer for Zootopia on Star Wars, they said that if the whole movie was what that trailer was, that the movie wouldn’t be worth it. But I don’t think it will be. We’ll see, eh? Hopefully there’s a final trailer for Zootopia by the time Kung Fu Panda 3 is out, eh? Anyway, awesome list again!

      2. Yeah hopefully Kung fu Panda 3 will be good because 2 was one of my favorite Dreamworks movies

  4. Yes, Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of my favorite DreamWorks films too. Just curious, during your segment “Did The Right One Win?,” that had been your first time seeing the Kung Fu Panda sequel, had it not?

      1. Oh, so you saw both the first and second Kunf Fu Panda films once before, eh? Well, my mistake!
