Remembering Alan Rickman

My brother joined me today to talk about some of the most memorable roles of Alan Rickman who passed away today.  From Hans Gruber in Die Hard to Severus Snape in Harry Potter he gave us some memorable characters and great performances.  I don’t normally do this for all celebrities that pass but I just felt like doing it for Rickman so I did.

What is your favorite Alan Rickman performance?  Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, Sense and Sensibility, Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter etc.  Put in the comments section and let’s talk about it.

Thanks

RIP  Alan Rickman.

  1. I haven’t seen the HP films, hence I’ve seen few films with the late Alan Rickman. I knew him more from his reputation as well as a constant person that people do impressions of. The only 2 films I’ve seen with him are Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Lee Daniels’ The Butler where I found him an odd choice to play Ronald Reagan, lol!

Oh well, it’s still a sad occasion.

      1. The stuff with the porn is definitely not something Mark will like. That’s the main issue. I like the film but just wanted to give him a warning. It’s pretty strong nudity and sex.

      2. Yeah, as usual imdb is full of sh… Scratch the website from your list, it is one of the least trustworthy resource out there. They are not porn stars, they are light models for a movie which happens to have many sex scenes but are not porn. There is a lot of nudity, but the movie makes a point of showing how not erotic nudity in this situation is. Like I said, it is considered suitable for children in Germany, which would certainly not be the case if there were any pornographic scenes in it.

      3. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I agree with imdb on this one. I think it is porn and they are porn stars. Regardless I definitely think Mark would hate those scenes. Yes it is done for humor and how not erotic it is but the content is still there. I certainly wouldnt show it to children and I think it earns its R rating. I really do. Anyway to each their own. I like the film but those scenes are strong R rated content whatever label you attach to them.

      4. They are really not. They say in the movie in the very first scene they turn up that they are trying to figure out the light. Most people just have no idea what a light model even is.

      5. I make it sound like I dont like Love Actually but I love it. I guess whatever the technical name is for their job it’s a lot of skin and I think it earns its R rating. That’s all I was pointing out to Mark. I’m not the only one who feels this way. It’s not that crazy of an opinion. Anyway Rickman is great in it and I do enjoy the movie

      6. I know Mark is very picky about his R rated movies and has only seen 2 or 3 and it is rated R in the US, and I think deservedly so. Some strong language also. So I was just trying to give him a heads up but as always it’s just my opinion.

      7. I still can’t get over the fact that it is R-rated in the US…I know that the US has more trouble with nudity (and surprisingly less trouble with violence), but those scenes are not worse than the painting scenes from Titanic and that movie doesn’t have a r-rating.

      8. Fair enough. I actually agree with you there. The MPAA is a joke. That’s why I have a screenit.com account because you can find context and specifics.
