Enchanted Giveaway

Hi guys!  Just wanted to let you know I am doing a Disney giveaway over on my facebook group.  It is for a blu-ray/dvd combo of Enchanted.  If you haven’t seen it Enchanted is the delightful story of a Disney princess who goes through a time warp and ends up in Manhattan.  She must use her storybook ways to charm a lonely daughter and her cynical divorce lawyer father. I love it and I will review it in the next couple of days.

Here’s the trailer-

I love Enchanted because it’s one of the only Disney movies that actually shows a princess doing some mothering, which I think is great for girls to see.  Plus the music by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz is catchy.  It’s just a lot of fun.

To go to the giveaway click on http://tinyurl.com/lt9xjnn  or the image below will take you there. You can enter multiple times a day doing various things.  Thanks!

  1. I’ve always thought Snow White was motherly to the seven dwarfs. I guess she never becomes their legal mother, but still, Disney princesses have made for some good mother-figures (Belle to an immature Beast?).

    1. That’s a good point; although. I guess I was thinking of mothering a child but it’s true they do mother and nurture characters in other films.

    2. I think it would be nice one of these days to have a Disney princess that has a child to take care of. Like a Tiana type but maybe a widow because you wouldn’t want a divorced princess.

      1. It’s interesting that you say that. I almost want to see a divorced princess. It would continue along the line where Frozen went (vastly expanding the possible storylines) and introduce different themes and morals than previous films. It’s subject to coming off as parody, but I could actually see it working if Disney played it with a straight face and didn’t mock previous princesses while working with something as depressing as divorce (makes me think of Up).

      2. You know with good writing it could work. Every Disney princess so far has been a virginal adolescent. It would be interesting to have a mature woman. Not in a crass way but just life experience. I wonder if they’d ever do it. There next girl movie Moana (hand drawn!!) Is about a 14 year old. Maybe part of the problem is most of the fairytales are about finding love not already have had it. I’ve always wondered what a Disney Rumpelstilksen would be like. They could make their own story
